I can't believe you managed to squeeze a Rush song in there Arrgggghh, probably the closest thing they've done that could be considered a ballad or love song would be 'Ghost of a Chance', and if you listen to that song, you'll see that that is stretching it.. :D

Well, Rustler old son, I guess we aren't operating on the same idea of what a ballad is. You figure it to be a love song you can sing to someone; I guess it's just a slower, maybe slow-danceable, tune that you can haul out the old lighter to and sway with like a red-eyed statue of liberty in the cheap seats of the old Maple Leaf Gardens or somewhere like that...

Ooh!! Which reminds me... I did that to Nazareth's "Love Hurts", which I'd like to now add to my list... (Y)

[righton] <----- what ever happened to that smiley????

eh :ar:

A ballad is actually supposed to be a song that tells a story, like say, the theme from the 'Beverly Hillbillies', but the way I interpret a ballad is a personal song that is meant to be sung to someone...

Yep, ballads tell story in poetry.
But the music-genre matters in music. Eg oridinary trash metal song with story is not ballad.

:wavin: Hi Ronin is the album called MADE IN JAPAN ? If so its friggin awesome bud............what a voice :bigok:  :bigok:  (danzBanan)  (danzBanan)  (danzBanan)  (danzBanan)  (danzBanan)  :uzi:

The live version of Child In Time that I have is on "Anthems", which is one kind of collection album.

So there are many live versions of Child In Time... hmmm :hehe:

Updated version of my list:

1. Nightwish - Sleeping Sun (4:03)
This is amazingly beautiful song - The most beautiful ever... No more arguments needed! :)

2. Stratovarius - Mother Gaia (8:20)
Though Stratovarius has many amazing ballads, I chose this one. Maybe because of the piano melodies and guitar solos in the end of the song... This is very beautiful!

3. Sonata Arctica - Letter To Dana (6:00)
Sonata Arctica has also made so many beautiful ballads... But this is one of the first ones... And this is legend. Very beautiful flute also... :)

4. Timo Tolkki - Are You The One? (6:04)
I bought Tolkki's album yesterday. The very first time I heard this song I could only think: W O W
Really fantastic song. Really beautiful. Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation-vocalist
) Sings this... Wow is also all I can say today.

5. Deep Purple - Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming (Single Edit) (4:36)
Legendary Deep Purple has also recorded so many ballads... This is quite new one, and I love this... That's maybe why I chose it

6. Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On (6:38)
This one is also beuatiful, especially the gospel parts rule!

7. Yngwie Malmsteen - Icarus' Dream Suite, op.4 (8:33)
Instrumental.. Fantastic guitar solos... This ballad is almost legendary, released in 1984... Btw the band was quite known in the USA that time too.

8. Scorpions - Still Loving You (6:27)
One of the most legendary ballads EVER!
Fantastic... Gorgeous!

9. Metallica - Fade To Black (6:52)
Also a legend! The instrumental guitar parts rule!

10. Rainbow - Vielleicht Das Nachste Mal (Maybe Next Time) (3:20)
Short instrumental, very beautiful guitar melodies! This is very peaceful song... ahhh!
